Upon entering the Alameda Park in Santiago de Compostela, you encounter the statue of Maruxa and Coralia Fandiño Ricart, known to everyone as As duas Marias. These two women, who spent their lives fighting Franco's dictatorship, inspired the show Le passeggiate. Le Passeggiate is a grotesque fairy tale, a fairy tale for adults that is slowly dismantled, overturned, and made real, highlighting the three-dimensionality of the characters. Through their story, we explore how the female figure can be the bearer of rebellion outside of political militancy (where affection and ideology often clash); it explores how women always manage to find a way to survive and finally investigates the eternal need of human beings to create icons, pagan idols, and secular saints. The show gives voice to this statue, frees it from its immobility, and allows the two sisters to return to walking.
